Our Jazzy Team
Our Mission: To create and share meaningful and positive stories to entertain children and to encourage imagination through reading, writing and communication to build a strong, positive global community.
We aim to be found in animation cartoons, technology such as YouTube, Amazon Prime, in classrooms, communities – everywhere families can use positive and fun lessons. A unicorn is globally recognized character that we have aligned with many animal characters for children to find connect with their imagination.
There is a tremendous amount of daily conversations and action steps that go into the making of Unicorn Jazz. It has taken the help and collaboration of many incredible people of all ages.
Meet the team and brand ambassadors behind the brand of Unicorn Jazz!
“As an author and creator of several books, I’ve seen the power of a story well told and the conversations it can do to create connection, harmony, and happiness.”
Lisa is a writer; founder and brand creator of Unicorn Jazz stories and its mission. She taught at Long Beach State, has experience in the elementary to high school classrooms. And with a 25 year branding, public relations, FM/AM radio and podcasting, writing background, Lisa Caprelli, has made writing her life.
Lisa grew up with humble beginnings in the sun city of El Paso, Texas. She is proud of her Latin roots and culture. She has made Southern California her home for the past 20 years with her two sons and fiance. It is important to her to travel and do book tours to be able to reach as many children, educators, parents, librarians and schools with the positive and meaningful lessons she has learned and continuous to learn. After building a great career in content writing and marketing CEO’s and leaders, and turning their business into meaningful brands, Caprelli, created SKIP A STEP stories and launched UNICORN JAZZ to be able to reach children at young ages.
It is through using the best of SKIP A STEP stories and its journal in practice, that she was inspired to live a PURPOSE FILLED LIFE and create meaning and HAPPINESS out of her own life and be the catalyst to use her voice and turn them into words.
This best-selling author is proud to be the first generation to graduate from college and she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Social Psychology. Her quest for studying human behavior and teaching is seen in her author visits, school visits, with kids, parents, educators. She believes in community outreach and volunteering and by sharing her love of literacy and reading she reaches even more kids at children’s hospitals and has teamed up with Microsoft Office to do children’s writing workshops year round.
Coming from an influence of of educators, including early childhood teachers, principals and librarians, she enjoys keeping up and teaching latest trends in technology to leverage and collaborate with great leaders to make stories and the love of reading meaningful.
“I wrote the first book, Unicorn Jazz to help parents and teachers have important conversations with children that include compassion and understanding and to help children realize they have the power to reach out. I also wrote it to help children who look or feel different, who might be teased at school (like I was) to get some kind of support. This is a story that has many lessons depending on your child’s age. Some top takeaways have been: “I am different and that’s awesome.” “We’re all different as human beings.” “We all thrive for friendship, kindness and love in our lives.”
It’s been so fun to create the lessons combined with art and song that focus around friendship, kindness, and love. The first book introduces the character, Woof the Crow, who believes in Unicorn Jazz. After the story is read, I like to point out how sometimes it takes just one person to believe in you, or for you to believe in them, to change your life. I have had so many “Woof the Crows” in my life, people who believed in me, and I invite others to give gratitude to those who have helped them along the way.
Perhaps, YOU, are the one who believes in another and SHOWS it — that can be life changing to someone. I am grateful to my fiancee and partner, Dr. Chris Herzig for being a driving force to pursue my passion for writing and creating, and for proudly wearing Unicorn Jazz t-shirts.
“Thank you to my team and to all for being a part of our Unicorn Jazzy community For the love of writing and imagination at play!” – Lisa

Unicorn Jazz Friendship Ambassadors:
Sophia is a sweet and beautiful addition to our team sharing positive messages of kindness and friendship. She is the daughter of Lizette and Alvaro, who have four children, including three sons. Sophia enjoys learning from her talented mother, Lizette, who is owner of OC Studios by Lizette.
“Being happy is playing with my dog or horseback riding,” says Sophia. She loves playing with her dogs and laughs when they turn themselves upside down. Her favorite books right now are Wonder, Wild Robot and Winn Dixie. Science is a subject she enjoys at school and her favorite color is teal. She enjoys having picnics with her family. She believes friendship is important because it makes you learn how to be brave and approach people as well.
What do you like to do most with your mom? Play hide and seek. Watch Sophia the First, a cartoon or bake cookies. We also have fun with simple things like painting our nails.
What do you like to do with your dad? Ride my bike. He taught me how to go on the monkey bars. I like when he tells me stories about when he was in the army, too.
On being an entrepreneur: It’s important to have fun while you work. My mom has taught me that.
What do you want to do when you grow up? Be an actress, ride horses, or be a teacher for horseback riding.
Recent achievement: Making the honor roll and “A” for the Day which is a prestigious feat at her school where students recognize her.
Kanani enjoys learning from teachers at every grade she has been in so far. Her favorite color is teal and her favorite subject at school is reading. She is the daughter of Rg and Jacquie who are also proud parents of their son, Xander.
IN HER OWN WORDS:
It’s a fun time when my mom and I build pillow forts. It’s fun because my mom makes awesome forts where we can lay around inside them and it feels like a slumber party. I like it when my dad plays basketball with me. He teaches me how to shoot the ball, dribble the ball, and play good defense.
What does friendship mean to you? Friendship is when someone is kind and nice to you and there for you when you need help.
Give an example of what a good friend has done for you: My friend Delilah asked me if anything was wrong, when I wasn’t happy, one day at school. We talked about it and she gave me some answers and I felt better afterwards. That’s a friend.
If you had a magic wand, what is one superpower you would wish for? I wish I could turn into any animal to be near them. Some animals are dangerous or could be aggressive like a lion, but being one of the animals, gives me a better chance to get close to them and learn about them.
Who is your favorite superhero? I like Batgirl. She has a ton of cool gadgets and she’s a girl!
Do you have an idea of what you may want to be or do when you are grown up? When I grow up I want to be a designer or a dog sitter. As a designer, I have lots of ideas for clothes and jewelry. I want to partner with one of my friends, Aily, who wants to actually make all of the clothes, necklaces, and bracelets. If I were a dog sitter, I would like it because I just love dogs.
What is one story where you were bold or brave? I was nervous the first time playing a piano recital in front of a large group of people. I didn’t think about the crowd since I had friends there to make me feel comfortable and I saw them supporting me and it made me relaxed.
