A Message from Lisa Caprelli: Be Bold. Be Brave.
I’m honored to serve as the keynote speaker for Mission Viejo’s 37th Annual Walk Against Drugs. As a children’s author and speaker, I’ve seen how stories and shared experiences help kids and families practice courage, kindness, and wise decision-making in everyday life. My characters rally behind one theme: Be Bold. Be Brave.
To me, those words mean learning to pause, think, and choose the path that protects your future, your friends, and your heart. It also means asking for help, finding safe adults, and building a circle of support—because none of us does life alone. At this year’s walk, I’ll share practical tools kids and teens can use right away, presented in a way that’s hopeful and fun.

“Be Bold. Be Brave.” is more than a slogan—it’s a daily practice of pausing, choosing, and caring for one another.
What Kids & Families Will Hear in My Keynote Speech
- Simple decision-tools: how to pause, check your values, and choose well when you feel pressure.
- Belonging matters: why trusted mentors, friends, teachers, and family keep us safe and strong.
- Joy is a compass: choosing habits that lead to real joy later—not just a quick rush now.
- Kindness & courage: speaking up, looking out for friends, and asking for help early.
Be Bold. Be Brave. In Action
Alongside our community partners, we’ll celebrate healthy choices, highlight resources for families, and create space for kids to explore positive goals. Come meet local heroes, discover hands-on exhibits at the Community Fair and South County Disaster Preparedness Expo, and walk together for a safer, stronger Mission Viejo.
With Help from My Characters
My book characters bring this message to life with curiosity, creativity, and humor—reminding young people that bravery can be quiet, kind, and consistent. Whether you’re a student, parent, educator, or neighbor, I hope you’ll carry #BeBoldBeBrave with you long after the rally.
