Unicorn Jazz & Thornwell School for the Arts Author Visit in Hartsville, SC

Chartered as a town on December 11, 1891, Hartsville is currently the largest city in Darlington County, South Carolina. Home of Coker University and the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Science and Mathematics, of which actor/comedian Anziz Ansari is an alumnus of, Hartsville is served by its own Hartsville Regional Airport and is named after Captain Thomas E. Hart who once owned most of the land in the area.

Hartsville is known for its annual events among locals, such as the “Screen on the Green” summer family event that shows movies for free to the public at Burry Park. Other fun events include “RenoFest”, a bluegrass music festival honoring Dono Reno, bluegrass legend and South Carolina Native, a Christmas Parade, and a Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting where children can enjoy musical performances and submit letters to Santa Claus himself. The motto of Hartsville is “A Small Town with a Big Heart”.
