Bring Happiness to Kids With The Thing I Do Challenge

/ September 21, 2020

The Thing I Do Challenge is about sharing with kids the thing YOU do.  It could be your career, a hobby, sport or extracurricular activity!

Mrs. Stacks, an elementary school counselor who enjoys sharing fun activities incorporating social emotional learning shares:

Erin Young is an elementary school teacher.

What don’t most people know about you?  That I always wanted to be on Broadway (and still do!)!   I absolutely love musicals  (my favorite is Hamilton!) and sing (loudly and not in tune) in the car all the time!!

What do you want to be known for?

I would love to be known as the person who had a smile for everyone.  Sometimes all anyone needs is a smile to brighten their day!  It is free and easy and can make another person feel so much better!

What are you passionate about? Why?

I am passionate about reading books to kids.  In fact, I would LOVE to host a new version of Reading Rainbow (remember that?!)  I believe kids love listening to books.  A good book has such power!  It can get kids under it’s spell!  They can learn about the world around them, learn about amazing people, learn to acquire a new skill, or learn how to be a better human!  Books can make us laugh, cry and realize more of who we are.  I love sharing my love of reading and my voice and my questions and my thinking aloud to get kids under that spell!
