The town of Resaca, Georgia, is receiving a fun and engaging free Authors who Zoom led by Unicorn Jazz creator, Lisa Caprelli, to Tolbert Elementary on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

Resaca is a town located in northwest Georgia with a population of around 800 people. A part of Gordon County with some areas extending into the County of Whitfield, Resaca was given its name in 1846 by the troops who returned to the area after the Battle of Resaca de la Palma during the Mexican-American War. Originally founded in 1848, Resaca became an incorporated town six years later in 1854.

On April 28, 2021, the award-winning author of the children’s Unicorn Jazz stories and songs, Lisa Caprelli, will be presenting to the young learners of the Tolbert Elementary School in two sessions virtually.
We at Unicorn Jazz are excited to be joining up with the staff and students of the Tolbert Elementary School as part of our virtual World Read Across America Tour. The Tolbert School an educational environment that is devoted to being a place of positive relationships and open communication; one where students can feel safe and supported on their journey to becoming lifelong learners and professional collaborators. Through its vision of providing a curriculum of caring and responsible decision-making, the values of Tolbert Elementary focus emphasis the importance of belongingness, a major theme of our Unicorn Jazz stories

- Before it was given the name Resaca, the area was originally known as Dublin by its earliest settlers.
