Virtual Author Visits Reaching Schools Across America and the Globe!
Children's Author Lisa Caprelli encourages literacy!
Life since the pandemic changed for many students, teachers, and parents. Many amazing kids with all kinds of talents were able to connect with us to bring education and entertainment with our show THE THING I DO, as a platform.
The silver lining has been to create a way for kids – like the ones you see on this page – to share and inspire other kids to keep doing what they love.
Thanks to technology we can team up to spread the messages of literacy and the joy of books!
Unicorn Jazz Club Kids - Sharing Acts of Service and Joy of Literacy
February 2, 2021 is World Read Aloud Day and we are ready to read across America with this school to promote literacy!
Isabella Iannelli is 11 years old and a student of Annunciation School in Yonkers, New York. We are excited to present to the students of her school in storytime song, and the importance of reading and writing!
Isabella enjoys arts, music, dancing and more. Read her story!
Emily Jewel Hoder
Emily is 12 years old and from Florida. 𝗘𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲’𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 are people she has worked with like: Sally Struthers, Karen Ziemba, John Tartaglia, Patrick Dunn, Preston Boyd, Michelle Dowdy, Jimmy Smagula. Emily adds, “They have so much experience and I was lucky to learn from them. All of these people taught me different things about being an actor/performer and good person.” 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 Jewel Hoder believes that if you find your passion and work hard to achieve your dream you can accomplish it and to “𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝗽!!!”
Mia Francesca Martinez
Mia Francesca Martinez is a Latina 13-year-old rising star in the world of performing arts! Do What You Love to be able to give back more of who you are to the world, is one of her mottos she lives by. Mia knew she wanted to dive into the world of performance after watching “Matilda” on Broadway when she was 8 years old.
In the future, she wants to be known for spreading joy and inspiring kids to work hard, pursue their dreams, and do what they love. After all, what’s the point of reaching for something if you don’t love what you’re doing while you’re getting there!
Having already been on two Broadway National Tours as Cindy Lou Who in “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” and Little Cosette in “Les Miserables,” Mackenzie Mercer dreams of becoming a pop singer. While the rest of her family is into sports, Mackenzie has been writing her own music since she was two years old, saying she wants to be a singer right out of pre-school!
Mackenzie enjoys drawing anime. “Drawing makes me feel calm.” A new THING that Mackenzie would like to learn would be the Japanese language to help in watching anime without subtitles.
